Over the past five weeks leading up to the launch of Mons Royale's tenth range, we've celebrated by sharing Mons stories from our founders Hamish and Hannah Acland. We kicked off the series with a letter from Hamish, reflecting on the last ten years of Mons. Then we explored what the future of the winter sports industry might look like at ISPO in Munich. On the way home from Germany, Hamish shared another piece about where the idea for Mons Royale came from. And then finally, last week Hannah explained how she brought it all together in her world of design.
Now, it's the moment we've been waiting for. In just a few days' time, we'll launch our tenth range and we couldn't be more stoked for you to try it out. But just to drag out the tease a little longer, here's a sneak peek at the range photoshoots and the collection itself.
Every year, a few key members of our team make the journey from our homebase in Wanaka to Asset Factory studio in Auckland. Once there, the steaming, styling and photo-taking begins. All of Mons' ghost, product and campaign shoots happen simultaneously under one roof - so there's a lot happening at once.
This year we were joined by models Ben Michefski and Steph Cherry. We also had a cameo appearance from Cooper, who is a resident of Asset Factory.
"Insitu" is a abbreviated term that mean situational. We flew a team of eight Mons crew members to the alps at the top of Lake Hawea to shoot these images. The team was well looked after by First Tracks Wanaka and guide Guy Cotter. They spent the night in a geodesic dome and woke up bright and early the next morning to get some banger powder shots. We can't give you a sneak peek of these images yet, but believe it when we say we've been dying to show you for months!
This shoot was particularly special, because it officially marked ten years of Mons. The team was lucky enough to score insanely perfect weather, where they were able to capture Lake Wanaka and our home mountains in all their glory. This was one for the books.
We had a blast creating our tenth range and we can't wait for you to try it out. We're looking forward to showing you new pieces, the latest innovations and edgy colors, patterns and graphics. Ten years of revolutionizing the merino market has culminated in this range and we couldn't be more proud of where Mons is today.
Cheers to ten years everyone. See you on the other side of the launch.
